   i’m bipolar and have been on prozac for the last three years. it works great for me! although, i do have the decreased sexual desire side-effect.

   you should be monitored very carefully, most normal anti-depressants say not to give to people who suffer from manic episodes in the information leaflets.
   I’m manic depressive/bi-polar and had an increase in violent manic episodes on some of them and increased suicidal thoughts on others, some even caused hallucinations. Prozac was really bad for me -my husband who is normally very good at stopping me harm myself (well mostly – I’ll forgive him holding me so tight I dislocated my own shoulders to escape to hurt myself) to wind up locking himself in a room till I crashed from the manic rage I had on it.
   Some people react fine with it but if you get put on it please have someone help monitor you.

   Ugh. I don’t like SSRI’s, none of them worked for me for bipolar/mood disorder.
   I take 450mg of Lithium twice a day. Talk to your doctor about it, its great. I no longer have as severe bipolar and depression.
