Can Stress From Your Mental Illness Make You Look Super Fatigued And Sleepy?

By admin Posted in: fatigue

I have Major Depressive disorder (psychotic type). The past few years it has been the worse and I started noticing I looked so god awful sleepy / drowsy most of the time but thought it was just me ya know? Like i was just imagining it. Anyway, I’ve had lots of people tell me i should go to sleep or if i had a long night and other questions that would imply I look like hell and that i look like i never sleep. I do have issues sleeping, but most of the time i sleep way to much although there are months when I sleep barely at all. Is my fatigued look caused by stress? Anyway to fix it other than taking my pills (which to be honest, my prescribed sleep medication makes it worse).

I was also diagnosed with MDD and it definatly can affect your appearance. The stress of dealing with the mental and emotional torment really does a number on your physical health as well as your emotional health. A little sleep wont fix it. Be strong and stick with your treatment. I can say with confidence that it is possible to overcome even the most severe depression. Good luck!!!

Depression it’s self makes you tired and sleepy. Makes you unmotivated. Your body gets unbalanced that’s why you have to take medications to make you more motivated. So basically it’s all the above. The meds that help you have some side effects and the disease that causes it in the first places has the most side effects. You should be getting therapy also to deal with the reasons you are depressed and stressed. It could help with some of your sleep issues and lessen your daily stress.

Yes, stress can make a person tired, sleepy, lethargic, also if you take medication for the mental illness it could very well be causing some of your symptoms. make your doctor aware of this as he may need to either change your medicine or change the dosage, good luck.

Well that’s a big possibilities to happen but you should better consult that issue to those who are really expert on that field to give you the right medication to take or advises that can really work.
