I’ve looked into it a bit and realized it could be OCD. I’ve had it since mid-teens and it’s only gotten worse. I’m 21 and it has took a toll against my sleeping habits terribly, I have a difficult time sleeping regardless of the physical/mental state of exhaustion I am in. Solitude doesn’t help me either, but I’ve realized I’ve become extremely quiet even around my family, and they’ve noticed something is wrong. My thoughts occur often, with mental images that vary from aggressive to relaxing states – it completely varies. I don’t know if this is normal, but its become a concern with me. I always try to perfect myself as well, which is also extremely annoying.. being the best in a certain category whereas I can never be content with myself. Any thoughts/opinions?
Help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Google Recovery International and Dr Abraham Low. Go to a meeting. Try it and apply the method and see if it helps! Here’s one of the tools-you can try right now. Say to yourself, “This is distressing, but, not dangerous.” Another one to remember is that despite the racing thoughts, you Can remain calm and not work yourself up any more than you already have, and in so doing, your mind will Eventually calm down enough that you can rest. Practice changing your thoughts from insecure to secure. “See” your thoughts as floating away on a cloud or in a canoe floating downstream. Also, look into DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). Hope some of this helps!

Sounds like anxiety. I’ve battled with it for years, as well, and as I got older and things in my life got more demanding, the anxiety levels increased. OCD symptoms are very common with anxiety, as well as constant racing thoughts, a feeling of impending doom or your worse fear becoming a reality. I would suggest seeing a therapist and see if talk therapy will benefit you, I know it really helped me! If they think its a good idea, then maybe you could also try medication.
Also, sometimes it helps to do something completely mindless — like watch a funny movie or tv show, read a book that isn’t too serious — anything to help you stay distracted.
Hope everything works out
