Feel Fetal Movement…but No Heartbeat?!?! Opinions!!!?

I’m 15 weeks pregnant today. I’ve had two visits with my midwife and both times she can’t find a heartbeat or feel my fundus. Yet all my pregnancy symptoms have continued, my stomach is growing, I crave certain foods, my boobs have gotten huge…and I feel fetal movement!! She (my mw) diagnosed me as a missed miscarriage. But I still FEEL pregnant. I’m going in tomorrow for a sonogram to see what’s going on…but I’m SO nervous and can’t sleep. What are your opinions? What do you think? Anybody go through anything like this before?!

Hope you don’t think I’m being rude but are you overweight? It’s harder to detect the heartbeat early in a larger woman- also the same applies to feeling the fundus (which would be difficult still at 15 weeks). Even in women within normal weight limits it can be very difficult to find the heartbeat before 17-20 weeks. I think it’s premature to assume the pregnancy has ended without first checking with ultrasound.

Try to rest see what they say tomorrow, I had a miscarriage sometime last week (al tho i was only 4 weeks) it’s not nice, but tomorrow will tell you more. I can’t work out why you can still feel your baby and the midwife can’t get a heartbeat, Good luck for tomorrow

I was more than 20 weeks pregnant with my 4th child without hearing a heartbeat or feeling movement. So you have an allusive baby. After him I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks. I didn’t know I was pregnant and thought it was the worst period ever. I had been nursing him and he was 11 months old and we had used alternate protection. Anyway, not hearing the heartbeat isn’t that rare. Didn’t bother my midwife at all.

    Hi Ya,
i 100% argee with uk midwifes comment,
It is way to early to tell if the pregnancy has ended without a ultra sound, and my local hospital do not do the fetal movement test, forgive me cant remember what is called until your at least 23 weeks.
This is understandably a very very worrying time for you, but try to relax and wait until you go tommorow, then it will be alot clearer.
    Good luck :)

I felt my baby very early as well. I think as long as you are still feeling movement then you should be fine but u never know. I hope all goes well
