I’m working at a company with a 1 year contract. I’m suffering from mental illness (anxiety and depression). I don’t have any health insurance. I have called in sick to work for a week now. Can they lay me off or fire me if i continue to call in sick? Or will they wait for me to get better because of the 1 year contract?
Because i’m not on psych meds, I could potentially be sick for a couple of months and not be able to work.
I don’t want to voluntarily admit I can’t work, because then I would have to pay for the contract?
Suggestions?

You can be let go – if they determine you’re not fulfilling your contract, they don’t have to keep you.
what he said.
Yes, you can be fired. The company has a legal right to fire you, because you aren’t physically ill in the hospital. Mental illnesses are horrible, however this is inexcusable for most bosses bc depression and anxiety are very treatable. They probably can terminate your contract because you are giving efficient cause of terminating it. No offense, I suffer from anxiety and depression and what you are doing is inexcusable. If I were your boss, I’d let you go.
