How Can I Stop Being A Bully?

In elementary school I was a bully. I didn’t realize it at that time because I didn’t know what a bully really was. I became a bully after my first fight, in which a bully beat me up. I don’t know how I became a bully or why. This mentality perpetuated through to highschool, where I then became a victim to bullying. I looked at my situation and compared it to how I treated others. I began to feel really bad. I wasn’t the “typical” bully. I didn’t steal lunch money or just go up to random people and talk shittt. If someone had a problem with me I would just keep trying to push their buttons so I could beat them up. I was a coward really. Now that I’m 18 and barely out of highschool I see how the bully mentality has hindered my growth. I no longer bully people physically, but sometimes when I talk to people I bully them with my words. Never intentionally. I have a bully mentality so my actions and my words are bully-like. I’ve got the physical bullying in check. Now I need to get the mental bullying in check. How can I stop being a bully?
